Leisure Planner: Attention Map

5 min: Top 4 priorities for this month:

In One month's time, we will be starting the last quarter of 2014.
What are the 4 most important things that need your attention between now and then?

Write them down and stick them on your computer screen
                - or somewhere that will constantly remind you of what's important this month.

15 min: Attention Map.

  1. Consider the 4 different quadrants of life
  2. Itemise the issues that, this month, need your attention in each quadrant.
  3. If you could only focus 4 items, which 4 would you choose from across all the quadrants? Circle them.
  4. Write these 4 down and stick them on your computer screen
                   - or somewhere that will constantly remind you of what's important this month.

60 min: Attention Map + Supporting Structures

  1. Complete steps 1 - 4 as above.
  2. For each priority item write down the following:
    1. Who else do you know who shares this priority? Connect with them over this.
    2. Why is this priority important to you? Visualise yourself at the start of October with 'best case' progress in this area.
    3. What equipment or information will help you to uphold this priority? Get it. Buy it. If this is a priority this month, then set yourself up for success.
    4. Where do you feel most 'in the zone' as far as this priority is concerned? Go there. Set yourself up a space there. Hang around there.
    5. When in the day are you best positioned to engage this priority? When in the week should you be focusing on it? Lock in that time as a fixed appointment.
    6. How have you advanced this priority in the past? Is this strategy still appropriate in your present context? Tailor-make a strategy for your current reality.

     Address:

          To: The one who…

          Dear _______ ,

Refocus:         Let your Kingdom come, Let your Will be done - here on earth, as it is in heaven

What is your hope for your world? What is the purpose of your being?
What does that look like in your present world?
Where can you catch glimpses of it already here?

     Describe:

          I want to see… / I know that… / I care about…

          In… / At… / For…

          Just as I’ve seen it In… / At… / During…

Ask:         Give us today, our daily bread. Forgive us our shortcomings…
Lead us not into the place of testing. Deliver us from evil.

     What do you need?
     What is holding you back?
    What are you looking for?
    What is terrifying you?

    List out:

          1. Things that you need specifically for today. (Strength at hand)

How has your day contributed to the growth of Jesus’ mission in our world?
How does your strength actively represent The Creator’s goodness?
How will your success remind others of the justice and mercy of God?

Demarcate specific times, things, meetings, projects that you

          1. Surrender, knowing that your best plans are still unsatisfactory.
          2. Offer to God to be used in a way that only time will reveal.
          3. Dedicate towards the purposes of God in your world.

Leisure Planner

Being finite has always been our challenge. We have all experienced the stress of having not enough - not enough time, money, energy. But what are you doing with the finite resources that you do have? Our simple strategy is to be faithful in growing the little that you DO have instead of worrying about the infinity that you DON’T have. And a budget is a simple tool to help us do that.

5 min: MONEY

  1. List out, in one column, how much money you received this last month.
  2. List out on a second column how much money you spent this month.
  3. Calculate the gap in between and try to remember what you did with the gap.

Draw a line underneath both columns.

  1. List out underneath the line on the left side, how much money you expect to spend this coming month.
  2. List out on the right side how much money you expect to spend this month.
  3. Calculate the gap in between and plan what you will do with the gap.

20 min: ENERGY

  1. List out, in one column, the activities from the last month that ‘drained’ you.
  2. List out on a second column which activities ‘filled you up’.
  3. Are you in an emotional deficit or a surplus?

Draw a line underneath both columns.

  1. List out underneath the line on the left side what activities in the coming month you expect will drain you.
  2. List out on a second column the activities in the coming month that you expect will ‘fill you up’.
  3. Do you anticipate an emotional draining month or an emotionally replenishing month?

60 min: TIME

  1. List out on a second column the time you spent that you feel were a waste of time or a time sink. That is, what did you consume that made you feel bloated and empty?
  2. List out in one column, the time you spent this past month that you feel, created more time for you. That is, what did you create that made you more productive and more effective?

Draw a line underneath both columns.

  1. List out underneath the line on the left side, the time that you know that you will lose in ‘time sinks’.
  2. What time you are setting aside in the coming month to be creative? Itemise that on the right hand side.
  3. Do you anticipate an exciting creative month or a plodding bogged down month?
